Dwight Alexander McPherson, PhD, age 75, of LaGrange, Georgia, died on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at the West Georgia Hospice House after an extended illness.

Dr. McPherson was born Nov. 7, 1942, in Miami, Florida, the son of Alex Lee and Ila Bernice Cain McPherson. He attended many schools and received his PhD from Georgia Tech. He had retired as president of Simulation Technologies, Inc. Dwight loved the outdoors, especially hiking the Appalachian Trail.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Becky Brown McPherson; and son, Justus McPherson. He leaves behind two daughters, Laurie Aikens (Daniel) and Sarah Bearden; son, Clint Bearden (Joanna); seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a close special friend, Jenny Norwood.

There will be a graveside funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018, in Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville, Alabama.  The family will receive friends immediately after the graveside service at Lamb of God Lutheran Church, 11716 County Line Rd, Madison, Alabama 35758.  In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Humane Society in memory of Dwight McPherson.
