Mr. Charles Willoughby

Charles Willoughby passed away Sunday.
He was born Oct. 24, 1923, in LaGrange, Georgia to the late Joshua and Pinkie Hollins Willoughby.
He graduated from East Depot High School in 1943, served in the U.S. Navy; and graduated from the Great Lakes Hospital Corps School; and received a bachelor of science degree in business administration and a minor in elementary education in the spring of 1951 from Clark College. He later earned his master’s degree in elementary education.
Charles pledged Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity while in college and went on to become a founding member of the LaGrange Alumni Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Beta Nu Chapter.
Charles began his professional career as a teacher at Kelly Grammar Elementary School; and later became principal of Pine Street Elementary School in Hogansville, Georgia.
He was baptized at the First Baptist Church in LaGrange. Later he joined the First Baptist Church of Peachtree City; and then Christian Fellowship Baptist Church of College Park.
Survivors include his daughter, Mrs. Justine Harris (Joseph) of Ann Arbor, Michigan; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and a host of special relatives and friends.
The service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Christian Valley Fellowship Baptist Church.
