Callaway rolls in region opener

The Callaway Cavaliers (4-1) opened their Region 5-AA schedule with a 49-0 victory over the Temple Tigers on Friday night.
Callaway led 35-0 at the half, and it added two more touchdowns in the second half to cap the scoring.
Callaway got the scoring started on a 47-yard touchdown pass from Jacob Freeman to Dre Potts less than three minutes into the game.
Later in the quarter, Antinius Barnes picked off a pass and returned it 25 yards for the touchdown, and Callaway’s lead was 14-0.
Still in the first quarter, Callaway got another defensive score, with Curmondre Bray scooping up a fumble and rumbling 70 yards for the score.
In the second quarter, Freeman found Markus Morman for a 47-yard touchdown to push the lead to 28-0.
Cartavious “Tank” Bigsby’s 68-yard touchdown run capped the first-half scoring.
In the third quarter, Bigsby had a 2-yard touchdown run, and Charlie Dixon’s 53-yard interception return moments into the fourth quarter capped the scoring.
Callaway will host Bremen on Friday in a region game.
Bremen beat Cross Keys on Friday to improve to 5-0.
