The new Home2 Suites by Hilton across from Great Wolf Lodge is now open and is already reporting a steady stream of guests. 

The hotel’s owners hoped to fill an opening in the area hotel market.

“Home2 is an extended stay hotel. That is something that is not in the City of LaGrange right now as far as a higher end Hilton product extended stay,” said Chris Chavis, the president of PHD hotels. “It is a new brand to Hilton. One of the newest brands.”

Chavis said the group had considered partnering on the Courtyard by Marriott in downtown before another hotel developer took on the project. However, by that point, their interest was piqued.

“In our research of possibly developing a downtown hotel, we still liked the LaGrange area, and with the Great Wolf Lodge coming onboard, it turned out that we had an opportunity to be there in a new development with them,” Chavis said. “That appealed to us and made a lot of sense.”

According to Chavis, even while Home2 Suites was still under construction, it received regular inquiries for rooms during upcoming conferences and other events. The hotel is geared toward extended stays and corporate guests, but welcomes all guests with pet friendly facilities, an outdoor saline pool, business services and free breakfast.

The hotel opened its doors to guests Oct. 11, but the hotel’s owners have been working in LaGrange and the surrounding area for far longer.

“Twenty years ago, we built the Hampton Inn there in LaGrange, and we ran it for a year or two and then we sold it,” said Chris Chavis, the president of PHD hotels. “So, we know the LaGrange area. We’re from Auburn.”
