The Troup County Sheriff’s Office investigated a series of entering autos that occurred on Jasmine Lane, Merrill Lane and Merrill Court Sunday night. TCSO Sgt. Stewart Smith said about seven locked and unlocked vehicles were entered and items ranging from electronics to cash were taken.
Smith said all the crimes were reported Monday morning. Smith said it is unknown how the locked vehicles were broken into.
Smith said a deterrent for entering autos is for residents to lock their vehicles.
“The main [advice] is locking up vehicles is a good deterrent and don’t leave anything of value inside in plain sight,” Smith said.
