The Biblical History Center in LaGrange reported record high attendance in 2018, with a 28 percent increase in attendance.
According to a press release from the center, in 2018, the center received its second highest number of visitors in its 12-year history. Some of that growth was attributed to events like movie nights, family days and new programs focusing on Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics.
“We contribute the growth to the new and exciting programming schedule we had in 2018, combined with solid marketing practices,” said Holly Winner, director of development and marketing. “We plan for 2019 to be just as exciting. Our director of education and programs is always taking our events to the next level, so we can provide educational, yet enjoyable, events for everyone.”
Events like Roman Army Day and Homeschool Day also attracted a large number of visitors, and the center plans to continue to host events that have proven to be a success in the past.
“In 2019, we are expanding family movie nights to quarterly events and adding evening in the garden in the spring, evening of theater for summer and an Olive Festival in the fall,” Winner said. “We hope you will make plans to visit us in 2019.”
Beyond the center itself, the center has proven to be a tourism draw for Troup County and the region as a whole.
“The Biblical History Center is an important asset in the Troup County tourism portfolio,” said Dave Marler, the vice president of marketing and tourism for the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce. “Everyone enjoys touring the Biblical Life Artifacts Gallery, but there is so much more. Whether it’s the Biblical meal, an educational workshop or one of the many the special themed events, Derrick Lewis and his team provide visitors with a unique experience. The tourism team offers congratulations for a job well done and looks forward to continuing our collaborative efforts to attract tourists to Troup County.”
The center has also attracted attention at the state level.
“The Biblical History Center in LaGrange is truly a unique destination,” said State Representative Randy Nix, a member of the Georgia Economic Development and Tourism Committee. “… This amazing venue brings the Bible stories I learned as a child to life. I always experience a blessing when I visit the Biblical History Center.”
