Reverend Dr. Zane Delano Chambers, Sr.

Reverend Dr. Zane Delano Chambers, Sr., age 85, of Temple passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2019. He was born in Bowdon, Georgia on Tuesday, November 21, 1933. Dr. Chambers was the son of the late, Troy Elander Chambers and the late, Thelma Ila (Eley) Chambers. Besides his parents, Dr. Chambers is preceded in death by one grandson, Will Reedy and by one son-in-law, Rocky Saylors. Dr. Chambers served in the United States Army. Dr. Chambers was a Preacher of the Gospel for 65 years and was a member of Temple First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of over 64 years, Jeannine (Bowles) Chambers of Temple; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Del and Lesia Chambers of Elizabethtown, Kentucky and Dwight and Rebecca Chambers of Manassas, Virginia; two daughters and one son-in-law, Diane Saylors of Douglasville and Melody and David Reedy of Temple; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Shelby and Joan Chambers of Hiram and Dr. Gary Chambers of Elizabethton, Tennessee; ten grandchildren and their spouses, Amber and Travis Fenix of Texarkana, Arkansas, Candice and Ryan Swett of Bremen, Alicia and Brandon Hicks of Lithia Springs, Matt and Dani Reedy of Villa Rica, Trey Chambers of Virginia, Taryn Chambers, Morgen Chambers, and Madelyn Chambers all of Elizabethtown, Kentucky and Liam Chambers and Abigail Chambers both of Manassas, Virginia; six great-grandchildren, Charlie Swett, Zoe Gladden, Lee Hicks, Saylor Swett, Sam Fenix, Lucas Reedy and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 11 a.m. from Temple First Baptist Church with Reverend Roderick Freeman and Reverend Larry Boswell officiating. Dr. Chambers will lie in state at the Church prior to the service from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour.
