Mrs. Vera Mae Truitt

The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Vera Mae (“Pookie”) Truitt of Atlanta will be held Saturday at Noon at the Branch Hebron Baptist Church in the Odessadale Community.  Rev. Eddie Copeland will officiate.

Mrs. Truitt, a native of LaGrange, was born on June 16, 1950 and was the daughter of the late James and Ola Mae Gates.   She was a 1969 graduate of Ethel W. Kight High School.   She was employed at Flowers Bakers with more than 20 plus years of service until her retirement in 2008.   She was a faithful member of Mount Pleasant C.M.E. Church and served on the Usher Board.   Her hobbies included growing flowers and riding with her husband in their 1969 Camaro. 

She leaves to cherish her memories, a loving and devoted husband, George Truitt; one loving son, Bryant Manley; three beautiful sisters, Patricia Atchison (Johnny), Gloria Gates and Angela Gates; three loving brothers, Steve Gates (Barbara), Preston Gates (Patsy), Karlos Gates; loving mother-in-law, Mrs. Doris Brown; three sisters-in-law, Christine Towns, Barbara Pride (Alfred), Joann Bray (Leon); special cousins, Hattie Tigner, Wyomia Neely, Fannie Tigner, Gloria Tigner, Glennie Parks, Mary Gates, Ellen Hedgemond and Lethia Pitts; very special and dear friend, Helen Bray; many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will be at their home at 271 Mountville Big Springs Road.
