Mr. Richard Avery Smallwood Sr. age 76, of LaGrange, passed away on June 24, 2019, at the WellStar West Georgia Medical Center. Mr. Smallwood was born on December 10, 1942 in Lanett, Alabama to the late Henry Grady Smallwood and Thelma Manning Smallwood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings. Mr. Smallwood retired from West Point Stevens, followed by working for the Troup County Board of Education as a bus driver for over 10 years. Survivors include his wife, Marie Bice Smallwood; son, Richie Smallwood and his wife Gayle; daughter, Tina Yearta and her husband Lane; brother, Billy Smallwood (Melba); sisters, Betty Broome and Faye Buffington; grandchildren, Kyle Smallwood, Scarlett Smallwood, Anna Rogers (Trey) and Courtney Barber; great grandchildren, Madisyn, Kayleigh, River, Averi and Silas; nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the Higgins LaGrange Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Perry officiating.  Interment will follow at Meadoway Gardens.
