Tough loss for LaGrange

CEDARTOWN – LaGrange High’s softball team saw its seven-game winning streak come to a close with a tough 3-2 loss to Cedartown on Thursday in a Region 5-AAAA game.
Trailing by a run, Cedartown pushed across two runs in the bottom of the sixth to secure the win.
LaGrange, which had won four straight region games since 0-2, fell to 4-3 in the region.
Malone Aldridge had two of LaGrange’s six hits, and she had an RBI. Holly Lynn, Jacee Marable, Camden Smith and Macee Stone each had one hit.
LaGrange scored single runs in the second and fifth innings to take a 2-0 lead, and Cedartown plated a run in the bottom of the fifth.
It remained a 2-1 game until Cedartown won it with two runs in the final inning.
Cedartown had three consecutive hits with two outs to earn the dramatic win, with Ava Allred’s base hit driving in the winning run.
