Season ends for Callaway

ROCKMART – Callaway’s season came to a close against a strong Rockmart team in the opening round of the Class AA state softball playoffs.

Rockmart won the opening game 12-0, and it finished the sweep with a 19-1 win to advance to the round of 16.

In game one, it was a competitive game until Rockmart broke it open with eight runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Alora Vetsavong had Callaway’s lone hit, while Caroline Conring hit a home run for Rockmart.

In game two, Callaway scored its lone run of the series in the bottom of the third inning.

Leijorey Sanders reached on a one-out single and scored on a Vetsavong base hit.

Sanders had two hits, and Vetsavong and Chaple Butler each had one hit.
