Pedestrian hit by car on Commerce Ave.

A pedestrian was hit by a car on Commerce Avenue on Saturday while trying to cross the road.
Around 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, officers with the LaGrange Police Department responded to reports of a person hit by a vehicle on the 100 block of Commerce Avenue. According to a LPD report, the driver said that she was driving on Commerce Avenue and had entered the turning lane to turn left into the parking lot of Zaxby’s. The driver reportedly told police that she did not see the pedestrian until after her vehicle made contact with him.
The pedestrian reportedly told an officer that he was attempting to cross the road. He crossed the first two lanes of traffic safely, but according to the LPD report, he was struck by the vehicle in the turn lane. The pedestrian reportedly did not see the vehicle approaching him.
The pedestrian was transported to WellStar West Georgia Medical Center for treatment related to pain in his right leg and head. According to the report, the driver said she was not injured.
The LPD determined that the pedestrian failed to yield to the vehicle while crossing the road and did not use a crosswalk. According to the report, the pedestrian was issued a citation for a misdemeanor offense for being a pedestrian in the roadway.
