Dr. June Wilder Plachy, 90, of Newnan, formerly of Decatur passed away Thursday, Nov. 21, 2019, at her home at Wesley Woods of Newnan. June was born April 13, 1929, in LaGrange, to the late Robert Owensby Wilder and Sebia Merle Wilder. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Fredric Rich Plachy, and brother-in-law, John Parker.

 June grew up in LaGrange and graduated obtained bachelor’s and graduate degrees in mathematics from Oklahoma State University. She retired from DeKalb College after teaching mathematics for 22 years. After retirement, she and her late husband moved to Wesley Woods of Newnan where they joined Newnan Presbyterian Church.

 The memorial service is Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019, at 2 p.m. in the Thompkins Auditorium at Wesley Woods of Newnan with Pastor David Jones and Rev. Sharon Edgar officiating.  A private, family interment service was held at Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange.  Rather than flowers, memorial contributions should be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org
