Hills & Dales will be getting in the spirit of Christmas on Saturday, Dec. 14 as it holds its annual Children’s Christmas Celebration, where children will make and decorate gingerbread houses.
This is Hills & Dales ninth annual Children’s Christmas Celebration, and the event has become a hit throughout the community.
The event is first come, first serve — with Hills & Dales planning to have around 300 gingerbread houses available for children to decorate.
Christmas cookies and apple cider will be available for refreshments.
“The gingerbread houses will be pre-made, and children will be able to use a variety of candy to decorate the houses,” said Carleton Wood, director of Hills & Dales.
Along with the gingerbread houses, there will also be a visit from Santa Claus.
This event is free to the community and will be held in the Visitor’s Center at Hills & Dales. Since the event will be held inside, the cerebration will go on rain or shine.
“There is always so much delight from the children. They really have a good time decorating,” Wood said. “There are also sing-a-longs and stories, as well as a 7-foot gingerbread house there to take pictures with.”
The event will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Hills & Dales advises parents and children to arrive early, as supplies are limited.
