LaGrange sweeps Hardaway

It was an easy day at the office for the LaGrange Grangers, who earned two blowout wins over the Hardaway Hawks on Saturday in Columbus.

After winning the first game 15-0, LaGrange finished off the sweep with a 19-1 victory.

LaGrange, which beat Griffin 5-0 in its season opener, improved to 3-0.

In Saturday’s opening game, Matthew Morgan threw a five-inning shutout, and he held Hardaway to one hit while striking out five.

Offensively, Will Alford and Charles Crawford both hit home runs, and LaGrange pounded out 18 hits.

Alford hit his second home run of the season, and he had three RBIs.

Crawford finished with two hits including a home run, and he had three RBIs.

Will Flowers had three hits, including a pair of doubles, while driving in three runs.

Mason Green and Brant Williams each had doubles with one RBI apiece, and Cole Crawford had a hit and an RBI.

Zach Thompson had two hits and an RBI, and Cole Cox, Ethan Hadaway, Morgan, Kevin Neighbors and Mason Wolfe each had hits.

In Saturday’s 19-1 win, Alford hit another home run, his third of the season, while driving in two runs.

Crawford had three hits with a triple and two RBIs, and Will Flowers had three hits, including two doubles, with three RBIs.

Logan Karcher had two hits and three RBIs, Brant Williams had two hits and an RBI, Green had a triple and three RBIs, Sam Yates had a hit and an RBI, Cole Cox had two RBIs, and Morgan had a hit.

Williams was LaGrange’s starting pitcher, and he threw three shutout innings without giving up a hit.

Green pitched the fourth and final inning, and he struck out the side and didn’t allow a hit.
