Troup splits pair of games

The Troup Tigers played two games at the LakePoint Complex in Emerson Saturday, and they went 1-1.
In the first game, Troup thumped Cedar Grove 12-1, and it fell to Upson-Lee 7-4 in the second game.
In the victory over Cedar Grove, Luke Purnell had a big game for the Tigers with two hits and four RBIs, and his three-run home run capped an 11-run first inning.
Jace Godwin had a double for the Tigers, Caleb McCurry had a hit and two RBIs, Trey Hartley had a hit and an RBI, and Grayson Garner had two RBIs.
Carson Garner started and pitched one scoreless inning, and Cole Garner threw four shutout innings to finish it.
In the second game, Upson-Lee scored four runs in the top of the sixth inning to rally for the win.
Purnell hit his second home run of the day while driving in two runs, Ethan Morton had a hit and an RBI, and Hunter Kitchens, McCurry and Grayson Garner each had hits.
Daniel Martin, Carson Garner and Grayson Garner each pitched for Troup.
