It’s too early to know if it’s truly the start of a downward trend, but Troup County saw only one new COVID-19 case in Monday’s update from the Georgia Department of Public Health.

District 4 Public Information Officer Hayla Folden said it’s possible some additional cases had not yet made it into the statewide system yet. Troup County is now at 1,336 total cases. A total of 31 people have died and 141 have been hospitalized.

Going into Monday’s update, Troup County had averaged 43 new cases per day since June 7.
