Mrs. Jean Wingo Ogles, of LaGrange, passed away on July 25, 2020. She was born in LaGrange on July 7, 1932, to the late James Huie Wingo and Sarah Elizabeth Hamer Wingo. In addition to her birth parents, Mrs. Ogles is preceded in death by the parents that raised her, Elwyn and Mabel Hamer; her husband, Charles F. Ogles Jr.; her siblings, Elwyn Hamer Jr. Pittman Wingo, James Wingo, Thomas Wingo, Gloria Wingo Bahus, and Marvalene Wingo Neely.
Mrs. Jean Wingo Ogles was a Christian and was a member at Rosemont Baptist Church. She had a career working for Playtex for 26 years. Following her time at Playtex, Mrs. Ogles worked at Mike Patton Auto and Victory Ford for a number of years. She also was a volunteer at West Georgia Medical Center for over 5 years. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. Mrs. Ogles is survived by her children, Gloria Ogles Looney, her husband Jeff, and Roy Ogles, his wife Teri; her siblings, Pruitt Wingo, his wife Peggy, Jess Wingo, his wife Debbie, Kinney Wingo, and Nancy Wingo Hardiman, her husband Phil; her seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; her very special nieces and nephews.
Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.higginslagrangechapel.com The funeral service will be held at Rosemont Baptist Church in LaGrange on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 p.m. until service time on Wednesday. Pastor Max McCord and Rev. Jimmy McMillian will officiate the service. The committal service will directly follow the funeral and will be held at Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange.
Due to the current health crisis our community is facing, the following measures will be enforced at the family’s request. All guests will be required to wear masks or face coverings. All guest will be asked to stay at least six feet apart unless you belong to the same household. Please no physical touching of the family. There will be a health screening station where guest’s temperature will be recorded.
