The season got underway for LaGrange High’s cross-country team on Saturday in the Bob Blastow Invitational in Whitesburg.
With social-distancing in mind, there were five different varsity boys’ races and five different varsity girls’ races held on Saturday.
LaGrange’s boys’ team competed in a race along with eight other schools, while LaGrange’s girls’ team competed against six other teams.
In the boys’ race, LaGrange was led by seniors Nathan Fritchley and Aaron Fritchley, who finished eighth and 11th, respectively.
Nathan Fritchley posted a time of 17 minutes, 25 seconds to earn a top-10 finish, while Aaron Fritchley crossed the finish line in 17:44.
Next for LaGrange was Terry Franklin (17:56) in 13th place, Bo Beall (18:16) was 16th, and Will Allred (18:58) was 26th.
Other runners for LaGarnge were Javon Harris (20:40), Julian Santiago (20:57), Marcus Franklin (22:06), Wesley Minicozzi (23:02) and Spenser Smith (25:39).
In the girls’ race, Lauren Farris (21:30) led the way for LaGrange with a 12th-place finish, and Zanay Rhaney (21:54) was 17th.
Delfina Martinez (22:54) and Tatum Fritchley (22:55) were 22nd and 23rd, respectively, and Zamya Rhaney (23:11) was 25th.
Also running for LaGrange were Alyssa Rhaney (24:11), Chloe Morman (26:49) and Gabi Martinez (28:29).
