Dear Editor,
The Decelle ministry of First Presbyterian Church recently faced the need to facilitate moving a person’s belongings from a rental property to storage while the person was in long term hospitalization. We had only four days to implement.
Our first call was to Zsa Zsa Heard, CEO of the LaGrange Housing Authority. In less than an hour she agreed to provide moving support and temporary storage at no cost to us. The plan was successfully executed before the deadline.
Also, a few months ago, the Housing Authority was also quick to respond to a request from the hospital for additional safe transportation for some Covid-19 patients. In response, Transportation Director Jocies Edmondson got approval to outfit two LHA vans with Plexiglas barriers to protect driver and patient. Work was completed and vehicles available within 2.5 weeks.
Hats off to the LHA team. In addition to all the work required to build their new facility and dramatically upgrade two of their aging projects, they found time to help others in need. Their actions represent what’s great about LaGrange – working together to help move our community forward.
This reminds me of the old children’s song: “The more we get together, the happier we’ll be!”
