Thomas Hampton Cotton

1940-2020

Mr. Thomas Hampton Cotton, Sr., 79, of LaGrange, passed away on Sept. 10, 2020.  

Mr. Cotton was born on October 29, 1940, in Troup County, Georgia to the late Thomas Lee Cotton and Minnie Lee Boyles Cotton.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, William “Bill” Cotton, Aubrey Cotton, George Cotton, Thomas Cotton, Virginia “Jenny” Whitley and Frances Cotton.  Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Peggy Ann Herndon Cotton; children, Deborah Mitchell, Thomas H, Cotton, Jr. (Melissa), George Cotton (Crystal) and Shannon Cotton (Christina); brother, Frank Cotton (Diane); grandchildren, Bryan Seymour (Autumn), Joseph Seymour, Thomas H. Cotton, III., Jacob Cotton, Garrett Cotton, Grace Cotton, Haley Cotton, Ethan Cotton and Dylan Cotton; great grandchildren, Logan Seymour, Lane Seymour, Addy Seymour and Gracie Burts; nieces, nephews and extended family.  

Mr. Cotton proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a Minister of the Gospel who shared at many local churches.  He retired as an Insurance Salesman for American General Life Insurance Company.  

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020 at 4 p.m. at the Gray Hill Church of God.  Family will receive friends on Sunday at the church from 2 to 4 p.m.  Interment will follow the service at Gray Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
