The city of Hogansville voted on a new logo to use for the city on Monday night.

City Manager Jonathan Lynn said Troup County resident Shannon Belletti created the new logo design.

The new logo features a green hummingbird flying off from the center of the word ‘Hogansville.’

City council members described it as cleaner and updated for the city to use for branding purposes.

Belletti will receive a stipend of $299 and can also claim authorship.

The search for a new logo began in early September when the council reached out to the community for design submissions.  Mayor Bill Stankiewicz said there’d been talk of updating the logo since he moved to Hogansville in the early 2000s.

According to Lynn, the city received just under 100 submissions with a large percentage coming from Callaway High School students.

“We narrowed down the submissions to 12,” Lynn said. “We allowed the public to vote on what they considered their favorite. Following that, we had a committee meet and go over the logos.”

The committee narrowed it down to two logos that were presented to council members on Monday on variations of letterheads, business cards, employment applications and other samples.

Stankiewicz noted during the presentation that there will be some costs because of having to replace items with the old logos on it.

After some discussion, the council voted unanimously to replace the old logo with a more neat and cleaner one.

Stankiewicz noted that older shirts and polos with the old logo are now collector’s items.
