The LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting Wednesday morning for The Yard on Mill, a 240-unit apartment complex that started leasing in July.

The complex is located on the recently built Mill Creek Parkway, which runs between Hogansville Road and South Davis Road.

About $34 million was invested in the project, according to Charles Haskett, founding principal of Bonavic, the property developer.

Michael McDowell, Haskett’s partner in Bonavic, said the company specializes in luxury, multifamily developments, and tends to focus on markets outside of major urban centers. LaGrange was also attractive for tax purposes, Haskett and McDowell said.

“We enjoyed the full support and cooperation of the city of Lagrange in building this project,” McDowell said. “The folks in the planning and building departments were all a pleasure to work with from initial permitting to final inspections.

This cooperation facilitated the completion of this project on time and in budget, which wouldn’t have happened without it.”

The name for the development is inspired by the city’s history as a textile manufacturing town.

The project is mostly complete, having just received a certificate of occupancy from the city for its last building, which clears the way to start leasing it. Some finishing touches on the roads are also being worked on.

Leasing is ahead of schedule, with about 40 percent of the units leased, McDowell said.

Rent at the complex ranges from $1,025 per month for the cheapest one-bedroom up to $1,390 per month for the three-bedroom.

Managed by Arlington Properties, The Yard in Mill offers five different floor plans and a mix of on, two and three-bedroom apartments. They feature granite countertops, walk-in showers, stainless steel appliances and washers and dryers included. Community amenities include valet trash and a package concierge.

The 6,000-square foot clubhouse at the center of the development features a pub room/café, a conference room for residents and a fitness center.

Right outside is a saltwater pool with a sun shelf, as well as a fire pit, grills and lounging areas.

“We’re pioneering here, and we’re bringing things that aren’t in the market, to prove that there is a market willing to pay for these types of amenities in LaGrange,” Haskett said.
