Camden Smith, after four ultra-successful seasons as a member of the LaGrange softball team, got to wear her high-school uniform one more time.
Smith, who helped LaGrange win a region championship and reach the semifinals of the state playoffs this season, was part of a select group of players to earn a spot on the Georgia Dugout Club all-state team.
Those players were divided into four teams, and each of those teams played two games during the all-state games at Buford High last weekend.
Also, LaGrange head coach Gabby Heath was a member of the coaching staff on the team Smith was a part of.
Smith pitched five innings in the two games combined and she didn’t allow any runs while striking out four batters.
Smith capped an exceptional high-school career with a phenomenal senior season.
Smith, who has been the staff ace since the first game of her freshman season, went 20-11 with a 1.72 earned run average this season, and she had 133 strikeouts.
LaGrange won the Region 2-AAAA title, and it beat Cairo and Cedartown in the state playoffs to make it to Columbus for the four-team state finals.
Smith has committed to play softball at the University of West Georgia, and she will sign her letter of intent soon.
