Ricky W. Morris, Sr., 73 of McDonough, Georgia passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Nov. 21, 2020. He was the husband of Doreen J. Morris, and they were married for 50 years. He was born on July 6, 1947 in LaGrange, Georgia and was the son of Doris Magdalene Combs and Jack W. Combs. He attended O’Keefe High School in Atlanta (class of 1965) and was employed with Georgia Power for 36 years. Ricky was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as a communications specialist in Vietnam with the 1st Infantry Division.
He was a Patriot’s Circle member of the VFW for many years and was a major supporter of the Museum of the United States Army. He was a family man above all else, dedicated to his parents, wife, children and grandchildren. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and never-ending dedication to his family. He loved to watch the Braves and Falcons and taking his grandson train hunting.
He is survived by wife Doreen J. Morris, his children; Julie A. Hutwagner (Eddie) of Covington, Georgia and Ricky W. Morris, Jr. of McDonough, Georgia, his grandchildren Aaron F. Morris of McDonough, Georgia, William W. Morris and Gabriel G. Morris of Atlanta, Georgia.
The memorial service was held at Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors at 2580 Highway 42 North, McDonough, Georgia on Monday, Dec. 14, 2020 at 2 p.m. Visitation with the family was immediately prior to the service from 1-2 p.m.
