Mr. Edker Paul Barnes Sr. passed away on Dec. 29, 2020. 

He was born in Clinton, South Carolina on Aug. 30, 1928 to the late Levi Wesley Barnes and Edna Wiley Barnes.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Barnes is preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Johnson and his grandson, Craig Barnes. 

Mr. Barnes was a member of the First Baptist Church on the Square in LaGrange.  He had a career with the LaGrange School System, working there for 43 years as the Maintenance Director.

Mr. Barnes is survived by his wife of 72 years, Barbara Barnes; his sons, Paul Barnes (Kristen), Cather Barnes, and Chris Barnes (Brandy); his grandchildren, Andrea Woodard, Will Barnes (Kristina), Jordan Barnes, Michael Barnes, Katie Barnes, and Miles Barnes (Lori); his great grandchildren, Joey Whiddon, Titus Whiddon, Elliana Whiddon, Grace Woodyard, Faith Woodard, Jameson Barnes, and Elizabeth Barnes.

The funeral service will be held at Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter-Allen-Myhand on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020 at 2 p.m.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until service time on Thursday.  A private family committal service will be held at Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange. 

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in honor of Mr. Edker Paul Barnes Sr. to WellStar West Georgia Hospice, 1510 Vernon Road, LaGrange GA 30240.
