John Seay Newman passed away suddenly on Dec. 31, 2020.
John was born Aug. 26, 1984 in LaGrange, Georgia, son of Frank Seay Newman and Mary Seay Skandalakis. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange and a graduate of LaGrange College with a Bachelor’s Degree in International Finance and Market Research. John served proudly in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. He loved the outdoors, especially turkey hunting and the game of golf.
John was preceded in death by his cousin, Henry Newman, his uncle, Jim Newman, and his grandparents, Dottie Seay, Gardner and Frankie Newman (Big and Bam).
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Mary and Pete Skandalakis; father and stepmother, Frank and Leigh Newman; brother and sister-in-law, Judson and Katie Newman; sister, Frances Newman; grandfather, John Seay and his wife Anne Pope Seay; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins whom he loved dearly.
Celebration of Life memorial service was held 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, 2021 in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in John’s memory can be made to the Troup County Humane Society.
