Lady Grangers get region road win

COLUMBUS – The LaGrange Lady Grangers started their Region 2-AAAA schedule in style with a 49-21 road win over Columbus on Friday night.

Corriah Williams led the Lady Grangers in scoring with 12 points, and she made two 3-pointers and was 4-of-5 from the free-throw line.

Nina Brooks added nine points, Holly Lynn scored eight points, and 10 LaGrange players scored.

LaGrange started quickly and had a 15-3 lead after the first quarter, and it was ahead 25-7 at the half and 43-13 through three quarters.

In Friday’s boys’ game, Columbus outlasted LaGrange 55-53 in overtime.

The game was tied 49-49 after three quarters, and Columbus scored the first four points in overtime to take a 53-49 lead.

After LaGrange fought back to tie it, Columbus scored with 30 seconds left to take a 55-53 lead.

The Grangers had the ball at the end with a chance to tie it, but a potential game-tying shot didn’t fall.

LaGrange visits Kendrick on Tuesday.
