Lady Tigers still perfect in region

COLUMBUS – The Troup Lady Tigers improved to 3-0 in Region 2-AAAA with a 66-14 road win over Columbus on Friday.

It was over early, with Troup surging to a 24-2 lead after the first quarter, and it led 37-8 at the half and 54-10 through three quarters.

Angie Dowdell led a balanced Troup scoring effort with 16 points, and she had 11 points during the third quarter.

Samarria Weldon added 12 points, Aniya Palmer scored 10 points, and Darnesheyuna McCullough and Jada Green contributed seven points apiece.

Ericka James added six points, and nine players scored.

In the boys’ game, Troup lost to Columbus 58-51 to fall to 0-3 in the region.

Ricco Person led Troup with 11 points, Tre Scott added nine points, and KJ Tucker scored eight points.

Troup visits Kendrick on Tuesday.
