It’s not the Ghostbuster’s team but it does resemble them. Local entrepreneur Pattie Harrelson recently began fogging businesses and homes, ridding them of COVID-19, the common cold, influenza and even mold.
In the midst of the pandemic, Harrelson created her new business, Fog Squad.
Harrelson said they use a solution that is EPA approved, food-safe and a biostatic agent that protects porous and non-porous surfaces for up to 30 days. It will continue to kill bacteria and viruses on treated surfaces for up to 30 days.
“Like a lot of people, we had a great idea birth during quarantine,” Harrelson said. “We wanted to do something that can really help people and build a business for a future for our family. When we started, of course, I thought of Ghostbusters.”
Loaded down in a backpack and a blower that mimics one of a lawn blower, Harrelson comes in and will fog and spray an entire office, classroom or home.
“COVID-19 is ruining our lives,” Harrelson said. “It is something that has taken ahold of people’s lives, and it seems to be only growing. I wanted to do be able to do something and kill this virus.”
Although Harrelson just began the business, she’s going full force and is also offering free fogs during the month of February.
Fog Squad also offers bacteria surface testing (ATP) and even specific COVID-19 surface testing.
“I felt like God put it on my heart to fog for free in February because the spike that has hit our community,” Harrelson said. “I obviously want to grow my business but at the end of the day I want to help our community. I want people to feel safe in the environment they are in.”
Fog Squad also offers a rapid response fog for when someone test positive for COVID-19 in a workplace or home. The team will come in immediately and fog every square footage in the office complex or home.
Harrelson said this is essential for a business because no one ever knows specifically where or what the positive person touched.
She noted that when they fog they focus heavily on areas that are touched the most and in small nooks and areas that the germs could be hiding.
“Our disinfecting treatment will cover 100 percent of all of your surfaces with a solution that will continuously disinfect for up to 30 days, eliminating the need for extra staff time, toxic disinfectants, and ineffective applications,” Harrelson said. “Preventing and killing everything from cold viruses, influenza and COVID-19. We want to give people a peace of mind.”
Harrelson said she hopes that Fog Squad helps get ahead of the virus and the spread of it in the community.
“I think people have a heightened awareness of COVID-19 and other germs now,” Harrelson said. “I think people are starting to see it hit very close to home. We hope that this not only helps halt the spread of COVID-19 but other sicknesses that we see all year long.”
Fog Squad hopes to become a standard cleaning service in the community that people can call for years to come when anyone is sick with not only COVID-19 but any other type of virus or cold.
“We’ve got this,” Harrelson said. “You call us, and we will come running. We want to make you feel safe.”
Fog Squad is collaborating across the nation to begin franchising the business. For more information about Fog Squad or how to get your home or business fogged, visit Fog Squad on Facebook or call (678) 517-4429.
