The Troup Lady Tigers have made it halfway through their Region 2-AAAA schedule, and to the surprise of no one, they’re sitting in first place with an unbeaten record.
With Tuesday’s 82-43 road win over Kendrick, Troup (8-4 overall) is 4-0 in the region with four region games remaining in the regular season.
The Lady Tigers are looking to make it through the regular season without a region loss for the second straight year.
During the 2019-2020 season, Troup went 12-0 in Region 5-AAAA in the regular season before falling to Sandy Creek in the region-championship game.
Flash forward a year, and the Lady Tigers are running rough-shod over their region competition.
After beating Hardaway 41-32 in its region opener, Troup has won its past three region games against Spencer, Columbus and Kendrick by at least 39 points.
Carver is also unbeaten in the region, although is has only played two games, and Shaw (3-1) and Hardaway (2-1) each has one region loss.
LaGrange and Spencer are tied for fifth at 1-3, Columbus is 1-3, and Jordan (0-3) and Kendrick (0-2) are winless in the region.
On the boys’ side, Spencer has been the team to beat in the region with a 3-0 record, while Columbus (3-1), LaGrange (2-1), Hardaway (2-1), Shaw (1-1) and Carver (1-1) are close behind with one loss apiece.
Jordan (1-2), Troup (1-3) and Kendrick (0-4) are looking to make up ground in the region.
Troup hosts Shaw on Friday, with the girls’ game tipping off at 6 p.m., and the boys’ game to follow.
