JOSEPH ALVIN “JOEY” EVANS, II

1971-2021

On Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021, Joey Evans was welcomed in Heaven by Jesus along with his parents, Joseph Alvin and Frances S. Evans. Joey was born July 7, 1971 in LaGrange, Georgia. He resided in West Point, Georgia with his brother and sister-in-law/caregivers Alan and Faith (Becky) Evans for the past seven years. In addition to his parents, Joey was preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry P. and Eunice Sledge, Sarah G. Evans, and a great nephew.

Joey attended LaGrange City and Troup County Schools. He was a beloved member of the Independent Church of Worship in LaGrange. Joey loved his church, Gospel music and his family. He delighted in having family gatherings, especially to celebrate Christmas or his birthday each year. Throughout his life, Joey touched many lives. He never forgot a name. He will never be forgotten.

Joey leaves to cherish his memory, his brother, Philip (Fredda) Evans, brother and caregiver Alan (Becky) Evans and his sister, Sheril (Thad) Higgins; nieces and nephews, Amy (Wayne) Gregory, Amanda (Cody) Winfrey, Cadie (Roland) Daniel, Dan (Marianna) Martin, Brian (Brianne) Evans and Seth Higgins; great-nieces and nephews; aunts, Sandra Simpson, Emily Sledge and Carol (Dave) Klehn; uncles, Clint Sledge and Reverend Lanny (Sandra) Sledge; many cousins and extended family.

The Celebration of Life Service for Joey will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021 at 3 p.m. at the Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter Allen Myhand Chapel with Pastor Jerry Scarborough officiating. Family will receive one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Shadowlawn Cemetery.

Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to the Independent Church of Worship, 3600 Hogansville Road, LaGrange, Georgia, 30241.
