Georgia State Patrol has identified the woman who was killed in a single-car accident on Hogansville Road Wednesday afternoon.

Juanita Childs, 48, of LaGrange was the driver of a Honda Civic that was traveling south on Hogansville Road before it left the roadway and overturned, according to GSP. Police were notified of the accident around 3:16 p.m. Childs, who was alone in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident occurred about 0.9 miles south of the intersection with West Hopson Road, per GSP.

Georgia State Trooper Brad Turner said the car turned right abruptly and went off the right side of the road, spinning clockwise and overturning. The roof of the vehicle struck a tree stump, causing injury to Childs, Turner said.

The reason for the car veering to the right was not known, and there were no witnesses to the accident, Turner said.
