Lady Tigers continue to roll

The Troup Lady Tigers continued their march through their region competition with a 65-27 home win over LaGrange on Friday.

Troup (10-4 overall) improved to 6-0 in Region 2-AAAA, and it has won each of its past five games by at least 38 points.

LaGrange (3-11 overall) fell to 2-3 in region play.

Troup started quickly in Friday’s game, building a 24-5 lead after the first quarter, and it was ahead 39-12 at the half, and 56-20 through three quarters.

Aniya Palmer led a balanced Troup scoring effort with 15 points, and Angie Dowdell and Jada Green added 11 points apiece.

Alexcia Murphy scored nine points, and Darnesheyuna McCullough, one of the seniors honored after the game, added eight points, with Samarria Weldon chipping in with six points.

Brandasia Cofield led LaGrange with nine points.

LaGrange and Troup will wrap up the regular season next week, with the region tournament coming up the following week.
