The Troup and LaGrange cheerleading teams are both state-bound after strong performances in the state sectional on Saturday in Vidalia.

In order to advance to the state finals in Columbus, teams had to finish eighth or higher in Vidalia, and Troup and LaGrange easily accomplished that.

While Troup placed third behind West Laurens and Columbus, LaGrange was fourth.

Perry, Hampton, Thomas County Central and Mays also advanced.

Another state sectional was held in Cartersville, and Jefferson, Central-Carroll, Cedartown, Heritage-Catoosa, North Oconee, Ridgeland, Flowery Branch and Northwest Whitfield each advanced.

The 16 finalists will compete for the state championship on Feb. 16 in Columbus, with the first teams competing at 10 a.m.
