The Callaway and Troup baseball teams took a test run on Wednesday.

With the regular season set to begin next week, Callaway and Troup played preseason scrimmages on Wednesday at home.

Both games were supposed to be played later in the week, but they were pushed up to Wednesday to avoid possible bad weather.

At Callaway, it was a successful day for the home team, which beat Northgate 7-5.

It was also a winning day for Troup, which beat Woodward Academy 7-3.

It was the debut for Tanner Glisson as Troup’s head coach, who has taken over for Craig Garner, who is now at Northside-Columbus.

Callaway and Troup will begin playing for real on Monday.

While Callaway hosts Manchester, Troup plays a doubleheader at Northgate.

The LaGrange Grangers, who aren’t playing a preseason game, open their season with a home game against Northside-Columbus on Feb. 18.
