Troup teams close in style

The red-hot Troup Tigers closed the regular season with a 64-44 road win over Jordan on Friday.
Troup (11-8 overall) finished with a 5-3 Region 2-AAAA record, and it will be the number three seed in next week’s region tournament.
After losing its first three region games, Troup closed the regular season on a five-game winning streak against region opponents.
Mon Woodard and Nick Philpot each scored 11 points to lead a balanced scoring attack, and KJ Tucker added nine points.
Nine of the 10 Troup players who appeared in the game scored.
In the girls’ game, Troup (11-4 overall) handled Jordan 67-20 to finish the regular season with a 7-0 region record, and it will be the number one seed for the region tournament.
Alexcia Murphy had a big game for Troup with 23 points, Samarria Weldon scored 11 points, Monyia Murphy added 10 points, and Jada Green had nine points.
