The LaGrange Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc, Theta Nu Lamba, collectively raised $600 to donate to the LaGrange Housing Authority Monday. 

Chapter President Mike Winfield said the fraternity believes in the future of the housing authority and what they are doing in the community. 

“We believe in them, and it fits with our motto of going to school, going to college,” Winfield said. “In order to do that, you need decent, safe, sanitary housing to live in. They were hosting a virtual fundraising event, and we wanted to be a part of that and make an impact.” 

Alton West, fraternity member, said the donation will go toward helping the construction of the new apartment complexes. 

“We have 27 members apart of our chapter, and we had most of our members step up and donate,” Winfield said. “We asked the members to make a contribution, and they did.”
