Troup High’s Braydon Bowen, after dropping his first match in the Class AAAA state wrestling finals in Macon, turned things around in a big way.
Bowen ran off four consecutive wins after that loss before falling to East Hall’s Cody Lee to finish fourth at 126 pounds. It was an exceptional showing for Bowen, who was one of eight Troup wrestlers who participated in the state finals in Macon.
Kullum Irvin also placed for Troup at 152 pounds, and five other team members won at least one match in Macon.
Irvin, one of three Troup wrestlers who captured an area championship, won his first match before losing to Ridgeland’s Aiden Raymer, and he finished fifth in his weight class.
Also for Troup, Wyatt Turner (106 pounds) and Braxton Truitt (285 pounds) went 2-2, Brayden Hutchins (120 pounds), Franklin Jackson (132 pounds) and Tim Dunn (145 pounds) each won a match, and Christian Hudson (182) also participated at state.
