Brenda Gail Alford, 77, of LaGrange, Georgia passed away Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2021, at her home with her family at her side. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, at graveside, Parkhill Cemetery.  In keeping with efforts to prevent the spread of COVID19, please wear face coverings.

Brenda Alford was born on July 27, 1943, in Columbus, Georgia, the daughter of Jimmie and Arcie Lee Greene. Brenda was the baby sibling of four. She met the love of her life, Carlton Alford Sr. when she was 12 years old.  They married on Aug. 19, 1960. She was the most wonderful mother of four children.

She attended Jordan High School, growing up in the North Highland area. She retired from Fort Benning School system after 22 years of service. Prior to that, she worked at Columbus College as a secretary and sold Tupperware for many years.

Brenda Alford was a member of Fountain Church in LaGrange, Georgia. She attended Victory Heights Baptist Church in her younger years, as well as Emmanuel Baptist Church in Cataula, Georgia.

She loved her family and enjoyed having many family gatherings. The babies always brought smiles to her face. She enjoyed being part of the Knit Witz group in LaGrange and made many blankets for the babies in High-Risk Nursery at the Columbus Midtown Hospital.

She enjoyed scrapbooking, reading, trips to Panama City Beach, Florida, and finding treasures at yard sales, which she was generous to share.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years (soulmate since she was 12) of LaGrange Georgia. Four children, Wendy LaPierre (John) of Columbus; Melody Trevathan (Ronnie) of Columbus; Carlee Bland (Mark) of Fortson; and Carlton Alford Jr. of LaGrange. She has 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren are Mindi Anderson (Todd) of Columbus Georgia; Jeremy LaPierre (Tara) of Buford, Georgia; Melissa Shelley of Tucson, Arizona; Pamela Lee (Gary) of Ellerslie, Georgia; Kyndal Hutto (Stone) of Cataula, Georgia; Melody Kennedy (Kane) of Columbus, Georgia; Brian Trevathan (Brooke) of Hamilton, Georgia; Trevor Bland (Kendall) of Columbus, Georgia; Whitney Bland (James) of Columbus, Georgia; Brett Milam (Jamiraquoi) of Fortson, Georgia; Ivey Milam (Alex) of Fortson, Georgia; Blake Alford of Norwalk, Connecticut.  She is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Qualls of Ellerslie, Georgia; and sister-in-law Jean Greene of Ider, Alabama.
