Mrs. Carolyn Yarbrough Glass, 74, of Warner Robins, GA passed away Friday, January 15, 2021 at Houston Medical Center. She has returned to her heavenly home. Carolyn deeply loved the Lord and her family. She never failed to share her heart and His love with others.
Having blessed so many, Carolyn was blessed with a loving husband. She married her best friend, Stephen Glass on December 21, 1986. She was an active and faithful member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church in Warner Robins.
Carolyn was born on January 7th, 1947 in LaGrange, Georgia, and was the daughter of the late Cary Aubrey Sr. and Virginia (Gregory) Yarbrough. She was a 1964 graduate from LaGrange High School and cherished her lifelong friendships.
Carolyn attended the University of West Georgia where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 1968. After teaching for over a decade, she went on to earn an Education Specialist degree in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Georgia in 1989.
Carolyn was employed with the Houston County Board of Education working at Bonaire Elementary and Eagle Springs Elementary Schools. Her enthusiasm, expertise, and motivation has had a long-lasting positive influence on the lives of countless young students and their families. She exhibited a tireless devotion as a public school teacher and counselor. Mrs. Glass’s dedication to bettering the lives of children was recognized by her peers in 1995 when she was named Counselor of the Year by the Georgia School Counselors Association. She went on to receive the Elementary School Counselor of the Year award from the American School Counselor Association at the National Convention in 1996-1997. After devoting 33 years to her career, she retired in May of 2004.
Carolyn was a member of the Houston County Association of Educators, Middle Georgia School Counselors Association, Georgia Association of Educators, the American School Counselor Association, and the National Education Association.
Survivors include her loving children, Sondra Eiland (William), Brandon Partridge (Michelle), and Jaime Willey (Corey); grandchildren, William, Ian, Owen, Margaret, Aidan, Cooper, Jacob and Emily; siblings, Cary “Sonny” Aubrey Yarbrough Jr. (Andrea) and Sherry Ann Davis; nieces, Kasey Elizabeth Yarbrough, Kennon Yarbrough Crawford (Jeb), and Crystal Yarbrough Cassell (Sam); nephew, Doug Segrest; great-nephew, Holden Crawford; great-niece, Mary Scott Fabrizi; and a large extended family including her beloved aunts, Faye Gregory Jones and Peggy Gregory Darden (Charles).
Carolyn’s family will receive friends at McCullough Funeral Home on Saturday, March 13, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. A memorial service celebrating her life will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. She will have a private burial in LaGrange, Georgia.
