Troup soccer teams now 3-1 in region play

Troup High ’s soccer teams improved to 3-1 in Region 2-AAAA with home wins over Jordan on Wednesday.

While the Lady Tigers (3-1 overall) rolled to a 7-1 victory, the Tigers (3-1-1 overall) won 5-0.

In the girls’ match, Monserrath Villar-Vazquez and Felicity Gill had two goals apiece, and Alyssa Barton and Susannah Lynn had one goal apiece.

In the boys’ match, Banneker Johnson had two goals, and Trey Ketchum, Diego Merida and Nolan Barton had one goal apiece.

TENNIS: Troup High’s teams fell to Harris County at home on Thursday.

Troup’s lone winner was Zach Taylor, who won in a tie-break at number two singles.

After winning the first set, Taylor lost the second set before capturing the tie-breaker 11-9.
