LaGrange College falls to Piedmont

The LaGrange College Panthers opened their series with Piedmont with a dramatic come-from-behind victory, but the final two games didn’t go as well.
LaGrange College (8-4) won the first game 5-4 on Friday, and Piedmont (10-8) won Saturday’s games 14-10 and 6-4.
Here’s a look at each one of the games:
FRIDAY
LAGRANGE COLLEGE 5, PIEDMONT 4
The Panthers scored a run in the bottom of the ninth inning to earn the walk-off win.
With two outs, E.J. Churchich reached on a base hit, and Cael Chatham came around to score on an error.
McKinley Erves had two hits and a double for the Panthers, and Jack Layrisson, David Smigelski and Trey Pearce each had a hit and an RBI.
Joe Ruth and Churchich each had two hits, and Rhett Hebert had a double.
Baley Coleman started and pitched seven innings, and he gave up four hits and three earned runs, Brett Caneega got two outs in the eighth inning, and Spencer Douches pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings.
SATURDAY
PIEDMONT 14, LAGRANGE COLLEGE 10
LaGrange College scored 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 10-1 lead, but Piedmont dominated the rest of the game.
The Lions scored three runs in each of the final two innings to complete the come-from-behind win.
Trey Pearce had two hits and three RBIs for the Panthers, E.J. Churchich had two hits and two RBIs, and McKinley Erves had two hits and one RBI.
David Smigelski and Cael Chatham had two hits apiece, and Joe Ruth had an RBI.
PIEDMONT 6, LAGRANGE COLLEGE 4
The Panthers scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, but the comeback fell short as the Lions won the game and the series.
Jack Layrisson had two hits with a triple for the Panthers, and Rhett Hebert had two hits and an RBI.
Cael Chatham and Trey Pearce each had a hit and an RBI, and David Smigelski had an RBI.
