Troup’s long winning streak comes to close

PHENIX CITY, Ala. – The Troup Tigers saw their 14-game winning streak come to a close with a 9-3 road loss to Central-Phenix City on Tuesday.

Troup will carry a 21-3 record into Friday’s road showdown against LaGrange with first place in Region 2-AAAA on the line.

The Tigers are 8-0 in Region 2-AAAA, while the Grangers are close behind at 7-1 in the region.

In Tuesday’s game, Troup was trailing 1-0 when Central scored three runs in the fourth inning, and it added four more runs in the fifth inning to take a 9-1 lead.

The Tigers scored two runs in the seventh inning, but the rally fell well short.

Brett Haynes and Daniel Martin each had a single and an RBI for Troup, Devon Murphy had a double, and Ethan Morton had a hit.

Murphy, Morton, Tripp Cummings and Martin each pitched for Troup.
