The LaGrange Police Department charged Christopher Stevenson for rape Wednesday after nearly a two-year investigation.
On June 6, 2019, the LPD began an investigation into a rape that occurred within the city limits of LaGrange. According to a press release from the LPD, the evidence was collected and sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations Crime lab for DNA testing.
After this evidence was tested, the LPD was notified that Stevenson had been identified through DNA testing.
Stevenson was already being held at Troup County Jail awaiting trial for charges of terroristic threats and other non-related family violence cases. According to the jail records, Stevenson has been at the jail since February.
Detectives met with Stevenson on Wednesday and subsequently charged him with rape.
