Troup soccer teams hit the road

The Troup High soccer teams are ready for a road trip.
Both teams will travel to Savannah this week as the Class AAAA state tournament gets under way.
Also this week, the Callaway High soccer teams will begin their state journeys, while the LaGrange teams have first-round byes.
Troup’s girls’ team, the third seed from Region 2-AAAA, will play Region 3-AAAA runner-up New Hampstead on Thursday at 5 p.m.
Troup’s boys’ team, which finished third in Region 2-AAAA, will be in Savannah for its state opener on Friday at 6 p.m. against Benedictine, the number two team from Region 3-AAAA.
The Callaway Lady Cavaliers, who finished second in Region 5-AA, will play a home game on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. against Banks County, the third-place team from Region 8-AA.
The Callaway Cavaliers, after finishing third in Region 5-AA, will be in Gainesville on Friday at 6 p.m. to play Riverside Military Academy, the runner-up from Region 8-AA.
LaGrange’s teams, meanwhile, won’t play until the second round of the playoffs.
The LaGrange Grangers, the champions of Region 2-AAAA, will host a second-round game next week against Bainbridge or Spalding County.
The LaGrange Lady Grangers, who finished second in Region 2-AAAA, will play Westover or Perry in the second round.
LaGrange would host Westover, but would have to travel to Perry.
