Masks will no longer be mandated at county-owned public facilities starting Monday with some exceptions.

Masks will still be required at the Troup County courtroom and at the three Active Life Centers in Troup County, County Manager Eric Mosley announced during a Board of Commissioners work session Thursday.

Mosley noted that county staff has done its part to keep the courthouse and other public facilities clean and minimize the risk of spreading COVID-19. He said the fire department especially has stepped up.

“Everybody has done a great job reducing risks within the department,” Mosley said. “The teamwork that was portrayed throughout this time has saved lives in our community.”

Commission Chairman Patrick Crews noted that all county commissioners had been vaccinated and that he was comfortable not wearing a mask around other vaccinated people.

“It certainly feels good that we can get to a point that we can pull our masks off a little bit and be comfortable around folks,” Crews said.
