Mr. Alan Gardner “Pete” Newman, 70, of LaGrange, GA passed away Monday, May 3, 2021, at Piedmont Columbus Regional Medical Center, Columbus, GA.

Mr. Newman was born Nov. 30, 1950, in LaGrange, GA, son of the late James Gardner Newman and Frankie Fling Newman.  He was a graduate of Auburn University and a member of First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange. 

Mr. Newman worked for many years as part owner of Newman Construction and as accounting manager for DanRic Homes.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Newman was preceded in death by his son, Henry Newman, brother, Jim Newman, brother-in-law, Dusty Jones, and nephew, John Newman.

Survivors include his wife, Dawn Denney Newman; daughter, Anna Marie Newman; son, MST Gregory Newman, USMC (Sandy); grandchildren, Henry, Frances, and Jax; sisters, Nancy Durand (Dan), Ivy Jones, and Ruth Perdue (Phil); brother, Chunk Newman (Leigh); sister-in-law, Lissa Newman; numerous nieces and nephews; and beloved dogs, Sam, Dooley, Nellie, and Haley.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 2021, in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with Rev. Jan Tolbert and Rev. James Goodlett officiating.  The gathering of family and friends will be on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
