A 17-year-old was killed in a single-vehicle accident on the 1700 block of Mooty Bridge Road on Wednesday night.
John David Stroud Jr. was killed when his 2010 Nissan Titan truck left the roadway and hit a fixed object, according to LPD. The truck, a 2020 Nissan truck, had been traveling southbound. The driver was pronounced deceased by the Troup County Coroner on scene.
“He was headed southbound on Mooty Bridge Road and lost control of the vehicle,” said Sgt. Marshall McCoy.
The LPD’s traffic unit was notified and is conducting an investigation. Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the LPD.
Matthew Morgan, a fellow LaGrange High School student, said Stroud was one of his best friends.
“He was the type of guy who made everybody laugh, lightened up everybody’s day. Everybody liked to be around him,” Morgan said.
Morgan added that Stroud was very down-to-earth and a true friend.
