LPD investigating self-defense shooting at Commotions

A man was shot after allegedly assaulting another person during an incident at Commotions on Saturday morning.
According to a LaGrange Police Department press release, officers from the LPD responded to the dance club at 12:45 a.m. in reference to a person shot. The LPD met with Michael Skidmore, who was suffering from several gunshot wounds to the leg.
Skidmore told police he had been shot in the parking lot by Jeremy Pitts, who was found sitting in the parking lot and was bleeding profusely from the mouth and head.
The LPD’s criminal investigations unit responded and started an investigation. The investigation determined that Skidmore had physically assaulted Pitts in the parking lot, causing Pitts to fear for his life and shoot his firearm and discharge several rounds.
Skidmore was transported to Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center for treatment.
